A staycation never hurt anyone, right!? Well, when you live in a vibrant and energetic city like Austin, it’s a fun time every day.
However, it’s also nice to get out of the city and just sit back in the Hill Country for some quiet and relaxation time.
While staying in Austin can be convenient for those visiting, having a little getaway out of the urban jungle can show you a whole new side of this unique part of Texas.
Whether you are looking for a luxury resort to escape to with your partner or family (maybe even golf buddies) or you are looking for a weekend of pampering and a chance to unwind, the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa is sure to have the perfect offering.
Staycation Experience
We had the wonderful pleasure of experiences the Omni Barton Creek for one night this summer and wanted to share our thoughts with those that may be looking for a place to unwind and recharge near Austin.
Our stay was complimentary since we were there to see the newly renovated property and experience what they offer guests for our review.
Though we did not have to pay for our room and event tickets, we did purchase food and drinks as well as a round of golf on our own.
Also, please note that this review is our honest opinion as guests of the Omni and the sole purpose is to share what we really thought of the hotel and service.
Having said that, upon our arrival, we immediately had the urge to book ourselves a second night just to enjoy what we had longer!
From the very beginning, as in when we pulled into the front entrance of the hotel, we were treated with warm and sincere hospitality.
This made us immediately feel at ease and started us off on a calm vibe.
Guest Accommodations – The Room
Once we were checked into the hotel, we headed up the elevators to our room. To be honest, we have both worked at hotels so the typical hotel room never really impresses us.
One thing that stood out was the obvious view. The serene golf course and rolling hills in the backdrop was a scene we could (and did) both sit in front of and stare out to for a long while.
The room was clean and it was evident that they uphold high cleanliness standards all around the property. The decor was another character of the room that captured my attention.
I appreciated the minimalistic style and calming tones along with the presence of local art on the walls. All of it came together quite nicely to create a very mellow vibe.
Amenities & Service – Pamper Yourself
The highlight of our stay at the Omni Barton Creek was, hands down, the time we spent just relaxing at one of their pools.
Yes, you heard me correctly, they have multiple pools!
With several pools to choose from, we didn’t get that crowded feeling that goes along with pools and hot days. It was nice to see that there was a kid-friendly pool for families to enjoy.
While we love children, as a couples getaway treat we were happy to have a pool without kids playing and splashing around in.
In the same fashion, I’m sure it was more relaxing for parents to be able to let their kids enjoy themselves without worrying about bugging anyone else!
Their infinity pool overlooks one of their golf courses so the beautiful view was the cherry on top!
We loved that there were food and drink options available poolside.
You never know when a quick snack is needed when you’re spending hours just melting away your stress by the pool!
Also, on a hot day like the one we had, it was crucial having a cold beverage being delivered as needed!
We did not get an opportunity to take advantage of any of the spa services. The Omni has a great spa with plenty of ways to give yourself some pampering during your stay.
We were very tempted to schedule a facial and massage, but the timing didn’t quite workout with the event and dinner that we had also planned on going to for the evening.
At every point of contact with the hotel staff during our stay, we could honestly say that we had a pleasant interaction.
One thing that both of us really dislike at some resorts and hotels is when the amenities and accommodations are amazing, but the people you deal with are either pretentious or apathetic to your needs.
We are happy that our experience with the staff and service level at the Omni Barton Creek was on par with the top notch room and immaculate property as whole.
It’s always quite satisfying when the caliber of the interactions matches the beauty of the place!
What To Do On Your Austin Staycation At Omni Barton Creek
The Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa offers four championship golf courses. So, it goes without saying that a round or two of golf is a must for those who enjoy the sport.
We will admit that Rob’s love of golf was one of the biggest motivations for us going on this mini staycation.
The designers of the courses include Austin native Ben Crenshaw, Arnold Palmer, and Tom Fazio.
It’s no wonder that the property has earned its current reputation as one of the best golf resorts in the state!
Other Activities On Property:
- Tennis Courts – including lessons and drop-in clinics.
- Fitness Center – including group exercise classes and personal training.
- Barton Creek Live – Summer Concert Series. (they have loads of other events going on the rest of the year – see here)
During our stay, we had the privilege of attending one of the summer concerts at the Omni Barton Creek.
They have an incredible indoor/outdoor event space that was very enjoyable to experience.
The pavilion room that the concert was held in can be rented out for weddings and other celebrations.
Having the perfect balance of allowing the outdoor blend with the indoor space as well as a spacious lawn out front is a perfect way to gather guests for an event!
Dining Options:
- Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar
- Bob’s Steak & Chop House
- Crenshaw’s Bar & Eatery
- Nopales
- Texas Spice
Now you can see why we wished our stay was at least two nights instead of just one!
We loved the close proximity of this Resort to Downtown Austin.
It is certainly a place we would love to go back to and would recommend to friends and family coming to town.
It was our first experience with Omni hotels and they made a great first impression of us.
The best thing about this resort is that it can be enjoyed as a family getaway as well as a romantic staycation for couples.
