Our Experience
We had an absolute blast staying at the Panviman Resort.
Our stay was nothing short of spectacular. Celebrating Rob’s birthday here could not have been more perfect in every single way.
Everything, from the Pool Villa to the Panorama Restaurant, to the Spa and the two story swimming pool and waterfalls, was impressive to say the least.
We spent our three day, two night stay, relaxing by our private pool, enjoying room service, and partaking in the on-property activities (billiards, golf putting, darts, archery).
We also spent some time at the hotel pools, drinks in had, taking in the wondrous views of the hillside and hotel structures.
If we had to choose, we would probably say that the best part of our stay was the room.
Not only did we enjoy taking a dip in our very own private pool each day, but the spacious room with high ceiling and world class bathroom provided us with all the comforts we could ask for.
A huge part of a relaxing stay in a Thailand hotel is the sleep quality you get (or fail to get). We can honestly say that the bed was very comfortable.
Additionally, the pillows really stood out to the both of us in how comfy they were. Needless to say, both nights were extremely restful for both of us.
Location – Panviman Resort Chiang Mai
Although it certainly feels like a secret hideaway retreat, getting to the resort is quite easy and relatively quick.
It is located northwest of Chiang Mai, in Mae Rim, about 50 minutes from the city center (Old City Chiang Mai).
The resort provides a free shuttle service to and from the Night Bazaar area, which is a very convenient part of the stay experience.
They do have specific times that this shuttle is available, so make sure you check with the hotel for availability (and try to set up in advance).
This allows visitors the chance to experience the lively market scene of the city without having to worry about paying extra for transportation.
It definitely adds to the piece-of-mind aspect of staying at this property.
Getting a free shuttle to the city allows visitors to easily walk around and shop or catch the public transportation to the restaurant/bar or site-seeing spot of their choice.
Tuk Tuks are a plenty as well as the availability of Songthae (Red Trucks) that can zip you around town (for a nominal fare), if you prefer to spend the day seeing some of the many temples in and around the Old City.
Those wishing get a ride to and from the airport can easily arrange this with the resort.
If you do take a taxi to the resort, make sure to stop by Mae Sa Waterfall.
You may want to spend a couple of hours hiking up the short trail along this waterfall and, maybe even go for a swim!
There are several other attractions and activities along the route to the resort, making it very convenient and quick for the resort guests to enjoy during their stay.

Things To Do – Facilities And Activities
Our stay included a 90 minute deep tissue massage for Rob as a birthday treat.
He enjoyed the massage greatly and particularly appreciated that they were able to get to all of his “trouble” spots.
He was impressed by the facilities and service, but did notice that it was a bit pricey even by Western standards.
While you can find extremely cheap street-side massages all over Chiang Mai, there are lots of very reputable spas that provide high quality services at much lower prices than were found at this resort.

Service Experience
Impressive service should go hand in had with luxurious accommodations. Having worked in the hospitality industry, I can appreciate a superior level of services provided by a hotel.
I can tell you that I have stayed at plenty of upscale hotels that charge a pretty penny due to there location, but fail to maintain a high standard when it comes to their service.
At Panviman Resort, we were warmly greeted from the moment we entered the lobby. A cold towel and beverage were offered as we checked in and were introduced to the hotel.
During our stay, I had an appointment in the city and transportation was easily arranged for me.
It was very accommodating that I was able to get to my appointment and return without any stress.
The one area that we felt fell short as far as service goes is the restaurant. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
However, it took an abnormally long amount of time for food to arrive at our table.
It was nice to sit and enjoy the panoramic views, but I would not recommend going when you are too hungry. The timing for food preparation could be improved in our opinion.
Breakfast service was excellent, on the other hand. We were greeted each morning and hot coffee and tea were offered as soon as we were sat.
The buffet was always clean and well stocked. Not to mention that omelets and waffles were prepared quickly and delivered hot.
Upon checkout I decided to purchase some of the home-made jams that are also served in the breakfast buffet.
The staff member that was running the souvenir shop was very attentive in helping me get the jams I requested.
The jam is bottled and labeled in their kitchen, but she ran back there to help speed up the process.
Understanding that I was leaving the hotel on the shuttle, she quickly packaged the jam for me and got it ready for me take on my drive back home.
Should You Go?
Yes! We would not hesitate in going back for a visit to this magical retreat and would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to experience Chiang Mai’s best in luxury and relaxation.
This place highlights all of the beauty of Northern Thailand in more ways than one.
