Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres is consistently ranked higher for its beauty and calm waters, though Cozumel has nice beaches too.

We booked a tour for one of the snorkeling excursions from Playa del Carmen and part of the tour included hanging out at Playa Mia beach club and eating lunch there.

In our experience, snorkeling in Isla Mujeres was better than Cozumel. The water was even more crystal clear and more fish were around without having to go further from shore.

When visiting Isla Mujeres, make sure not to miss Temple of Ixchel located at the southern end of the island at Punta Sur.

It is a Mayan archeological site and entrance requires a small fee (as residents of Quintana Roo we got a half off discount!).

While the ruins itself is not very big or spectacular, the location is absolutely breathtaking! There are several pathways taking you around the cliffside of the island with views of both sides!

Isla Mujeres is also home to a number of bars and clubs, so you can party the night away or do a fun golf cart bar crawl.
